Why we made this

The Contact was designed in collaboration with Brandon Semenuk as his original signature pedal to meet the needs of riders who want a compact, lightweight flat pedal without sacrificing grip.

With a slim 13mm profile, a true concave platform, and adjustable pins, it keeps your feet locked in while offering a narrow stance for better control during tricks and tight maneuvers. Its compact size makes it ideal for smaller feet or riders who prefer a more agile feel underfoot.

Tough, reliable, and simple—whether you're sending jumps or sessioning the park, the Contact excels as Brandon Semenuk's dirt jump and slopestyle MTB pedal.

CNC Machining

CNC Machining is a process in which a piece of raw material or stock is cut into a final desired shape using a computer controlled machine and often several different machine tools. Depending on the operation in question different tools are called, for example ball mills, end mills, thread mills, taps and slitting saws to name a few, all have different uses and come in all manner of shapes and sizes.

Machining produces extremely accurate parts, often to within 0.001" (I know, Canada is mostly metric but the industry predominately uses imperial units), and is renowned for creating a very high-end look with 3D surfacing and clean, strong edges which forging cannot produce.

Because every aspect of the part must be "cut out" machined parts take a long time to produce. A Ranger body for example takes 20 minutes to machine (the face plate is made separately), then it still needs to be deburred, quality checked, anodised, laser etched and assembled.

key features

All of our pedals are built upon this foundation.

G3 Axle System

We designed the G.3 axle system with longevity and serviceability in mind.

The G.3 system uses a high-strength chromoly axle with a double seal, inner bushing, and outer cartridge bearing.

The Pilot & Radar use all the same components, but with a shorter axle. We designate this axle as F.1.

Replaceable Pins

Our pin system is height adjustable via the included washers. They are easily replaceable from the other side of the pedal body, even if damaged.

Some models feature alternate pin locations for customization, or if existing holes are damaged.

Each set comes with spare pins.

Colours

All of our pedals are available in a wide range of colours to suit your style and match the rest of your bike.

Pedal FAQ's

All of our pedals use a 9/16" x 20tpi thread which is standard in the bike industry.

Our pedals will fit almost any bike with the exception of low-end 1 piece BMX cranks, some kids bikes or other very old bicycles.

Yes! You will get both a left and a right pedal.

Pedals have specific left and right threads (so they don't unscrew while you pedal). It is very important these are installed on the correct side.

The left pedal axle does have a little ridge around it (this becomes important if you are servicing your pedals), but the easiest way to tell is that the graphics/logos read the correct way around from the rider's point of view.

Yes! You will get some spare pins & washers in the box.

Your pedals will last a very long time. It's not uncommon for our pedals to last a decade or more with the right care.

The main wear you will encounter is damaged pins which are easily replaceable. If you run out, we sell packs here.

Sometimes it's a good idea to do a complete service on your pedals if they are running rough or if you have managed to bend an axle. You can change the axle, bushings and bearings which can be purchased here.

However more often than not, a quick strip-down, clean and regrease will keep your pedals running smooth for years to come.

Essentially Q-Factor is the distance between the pedal attachment points on the crank arms, also referred to as Tread. It could also be described as the width of your crankset. This affects your stance, if you've ever been snowboarding think of it as the same thing, essentially the distance between your feet.

Read up on it here.

Grease the threads and use pedal washers.

The graphic will read correctly from the riders POV, to help you identify the left and right side.

Give each of the pins a little 1/8 turn to make sure they are tight. You can adjust the height of the pins by adding/removing washers.

Super grippy pedals. Absolutely sweet but they are kinda sharp and they have me stiches. But it was worth it, I will never buy a different set of pedals.

Goldilocks

I've ridden a bunch of different pedals for dirt jumping and these are the best by far, the platform is the perfect size and with the extra holes and pins they give you, I have customized the perfect amount of grip I prefer. 10/10 would recommend.

These are basically on every bike I own. Dependable, great shape, adjustable and long lasting. The ano starts to show it’s age and remind me how long I’ve been riding these with out issue. 10/10.

The best

I run these pedals on both my trail bike and my bmx. Perfect platform size, pins are grippy when you need them and can remove your foot when you need too. Would recommend to all BMX/DJ riders and flat pedal MTB riders.

Durable pedal

My scarab have stood up to a lot of abuse and still feel great. I bought these originally for my trail bike but the fact that they sit closer to the crank than others wasn't ideal for my duck stance. The platform size and grip was great but these got moved to my dj bike as they are more suited to dirt jump/pump track riding than long days of pedaling for me.

Good Trail pedal

I really like these for trail riding. I find they give me some extra clearance and have fewer pedal strikes with the platform set closer to the cranks. Usual stellar Chromag quality.

Ultimate grip. Ultimate looks.

Having customizable pin placement is a must for me. The Contacts are nice and grippy through mud, snow, and everything else. I love all the color options as well. I wear a size 10 shoe, and the platform size is just right.

Some of the best pedals I have ridden

Super grippy, but release just when I want them to. Clear mud very well, nice and light, very easily serviceable. They're simple but amazing. I can't ask for much more.

Insanely good

Got two pairs since they came out. Still holding strong after surely 30.000 km. Did every winter a grease and clean action. Working best for me with 5.10s grip is perfect not to much not to less👌

Different than I expected

Don’t get me wrong I like the pedals but they are not what I think I wanted. If you want a super grippy pedal this is definitely not the one, even with all the pins extended. The only other issue I thought the platform would be big enough to fit my 11.5 sized foot but it isn’t. Great pedal but not the one for me.

Great feel and durability

Been using this pedal for the last many years and it's been holding up very well to rock hits etc. Nice platform that gives you confidence in your grip.

Stoked

Nice platform and don’t roll under my feet like my specialized pedals do. Have bashed them into a lot of rocks and they still look and work great.

Great so far

I've switched to these after riding Saint pedals for the last year. These are a big improvement. My foot is positioned closer to the crank, which I prefer for some reason. The Shimano Saints have a bulge where the inboard bearing is housed, and I was always placing my foot on top of this, which then lifted my foot off the the pins.
Bottom line, these feel great and do not slip or roll on me. Hopefully they last.

Great Trail Pedal

So, I waited until I had 6 rides on the Contacts before writing my thoughts. First and foremost, they grip better than the Spank Spikes I had previously, and it's not even close. With the Spikes, I simply had to "twist my ankle" to get my 5-10 Free Riders to reposition on the pedal, even if I were standing........... Not so with the Contacts. I have to basically take off all of my weight and "dab my ankle" to reposition. The first few rides I struggled a bit to reposition, but I have now gotten the hang of it and I don't have to think about it as much, and I'm betting by the end of the month, I won't give it another thought.

Overall, I am extremely happy with the Contacts. With their tenacious grip, I can actually pull back on the pedals while climbing, and when descending or simply hammering through a rough section, my feet just don't move at all.

I do think Chromag is hurting themselves by marketing the Contact as a "dirt jumping pedal" because even though they say the Contact's "bring your feet closer to the crank, for better control while doing tricks", they are in fact wider than the Spikes by a few mm's, and they even stand off of the crank arm face (where pedal platform begins) more than the Spikes do, so your foot can actually rest naturally on the Contact even a little further away from the crank arm face than with the Spike, which is considered a "trail pedal".

Love not having to mess with my shoes

Used for one winter season. I exchange these often with clipless pedals depending on the surface and how much Im going to be coming off my fat bike. The dished area around the center of the spindle allows me to use these with my normal cycling shoes or boots with cleats and have no interference between the cleat and the center of the pedal. Love not having to mess with my shoes when I change pedals.

JUST BUY THEM

I can’t find a single negative thing to say about these pedals. I was a little bit concerned going from a 12 pin pedal to a 9 pin pedal but these cromags are far far more grippy than my Atom lab pimp light pedals.

They are light. Simple. They don’t spin freely when you’re not on them. They are CRAZY grippy.

Super highly recommended.

Durable with great grip

About half way through the season riding these pedals on my YT capra. Love the larger platform for my big feet, and the adjustable screws for adding grip where you need it. I have been truly abusing these pedals, riding trail and occasionally striking the pedals on rocks. Also have been riding lots of downhill and have had some big crashes, and these hold up great. Noticed the added bike control compared to my old raceface pedals. Will buy another pair if these ever break, but Im starting to doubt it!
Also include extra grip screws if you end up losing any, but I haven't yet.

Great flats comfortable, wide and grippy on the trail

I did a lot of research on Flat Pedals for mountain biking - "finish and bearings are way better quality. It may not be the thinnest either, but it’s stiff, solid underfoot and the multiple pin placement allows you to really tune the grip level to match your riding style and preference.
" this was one of the reviews that sold me on these.

Having ridden these now for 1 1/2 years now - all single track trail riding - I would definitely purchase them again. The concave shape really does feel comfortable and they are tough - with pedal strikes etc ....They are solid. They also shipped with a set of replacement pins of which I have not had to replace 1 of them.

Note to install them you use hex key (Allen wrench) not the usual pedal wrench.

More than just a DJ pedal

What attracted me to the design was the durability factor, compared to my last pedals (race face atlas) the body is thicker, and the axle runs the full width of the pedal in a very traditional fashion. What this allows for is larger bearings, and a thicker platform for rockstrikes etc.

So over a year into these pedals here is what I’ve found: the grip is excellent and these pedals are capable of more than just DJ use. I find they have great grip when climbing and spending longer days in the saddle. I’ve experimented with pin height and have really enjoyed raising the pins around the front and back to further emphasize the concave shape.

The pins are not as sharp as some designs I’ve seen like Race Face and DMR, but for me I like that feeling. The pins are tall enough to feel like they’re glued to your feet, but I don’t feel like I have to do a micro-sit or un-weight too much in order to re-position my foot when things get rough, or my feet come off on purpose during a euro, or table. The platform isn’t the largest, but my size 10 feet and impact shoes fit them well.

After a year and a half on my DH bike the pedals show some serious signs of abuse. The Anodizing is worn, and the edges scarred from rocks. However I haven’t rebuilt them once. In fact, I haven’t even had to re grease or adjust them. Bar a few replaced pins. This is fantastic compared to my past experiences with pedal designs using under-sized bearings, and DU bushings.

Chromag Contact Review

The Good: Grip is excellent with pins fully extended, adjustable pin locations, concave shape (if you're into that sort of thing), durability, extra pins included.
The Bad: When the pins are fully extended the shear point is ineffective, anodizing wears quickly.
